10,000th 1.5-megawatt wind turbine, a global wind industry milestone. Over the
past ten years, GE’s 1.5-megawatt machines have been installed in 19 countries
and have accumulated more than 130 million operating hours, producing more than
78,000 gigawatt-hours of electricity.

RWE
Innogy has gained access to three further wind energy projects in Poland with a
total installed capacity of 150 MW. The
sites, each with 50 MW of planned capacity, are located in northern Poland. RWE
Innogy has concluded a contract for the projects with a Polish project
developer. All three projects are still in the early phase of development. Based on current planning, official approval
of the wind farms is expected from 2011.

utilities dump power, they loses sales.
GeoBattery will try to solve this problem with sodium sulfur
batteries. “They have the lowest cost and highest charge
density of any battery,” says the CEO of GeoBattery, Dan Volger.

Arizona Public Service Co. plans to buy 100 MWs of electricity beginning
next year from the High Lonesome Wind Ranch being built 55 miles southwest of
Albuquerque. The purchase will give APS
190 MWs of wind capacity. That is enough electricity for about 47,500 houses in
APS territory.

Irish
company Mainstream Renewable Power has signed a $1 billion euro joint venture
with Andes Energy in Chile to develop 400 MW of wind farms in that
country. Mainstream Renewable plans to develop, construct and operate a
range of renewable energy plants across Europe, the U.S., South America and
Australia and expects to have 200 MW of power built by 2010.

Alternative Energy, a subsidiary of oil giant BP, has pulled out of a partnership in a wind farm
project with a subsidiary of Goldwind Science & Technology Company of
China. Goldwind is China's largest maker
of wind turbines. It said BP decided to

effectively killed San Diego Gas & Electric Co.'s plan to build the Sunrise
Powerlink through the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and parts of North
County. An administrative law judge for
the Public Utilities Commission and a PUC commissioner who were assigned to
review the project concluded the route
doesn't make economic or environmental sense.

Britain’s Terra Firma Capital Partners Ltd. has
started a 1.2 billion-pound ($1.9 billion) bid to build its Infinis unit into
of the U.K.'s largest wind-energy producers.
The company plans to buy or build up to 800 mega-watts of onshore wind
generating capacity over 10 years. Guy
Hands, the buyout baron behind music publisher EMI, heads Terra Firm. Infinis presently concentrates on
waste-to-energy commerce.

El Sewedy Cables has started up a wind energy group to
build turbines in Egypt. The company
expects sales of 434.6 million euros ($584 million) by 2011. Sewedy created the
Sewedy Wind Energy Group after buying a 30 percent stake in Spanish wind energy
equipment manufacturer M.Torres Olvega for 40 million euros. Sewedy retained
the option to buy the remainder by March 2011.

off the ground last week. The Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation
(EEPCo) signed a 210 million Euro contract agreement with Vergnet Group - a

New Jersey’s Governor called for a tripling of the state's
commitment to develop offshore wind energy.
"We will be changing the objective from 1,000 mega watts to 3,000
mega watts by 2020," says Governor Jon Corzine. That would mean about 13

PSEG-backed wind-power venture Friday for a 350MW offshore pilot project. The selection gives Bluewater Wind's Delaware
startup a new neighbor. Bluewater, a
company that already plans to build more than 60 turbines off Rehoboth Beach,
was a runner-up in the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities competition for up
to $19 million in state assistance.
